The National Campaign and the National Association of Public Child Welfare Administrators (NAPCWA), an affiliate of the American Public Human Services Association, co-sponsored a webinar focused on the opportunities to address the needs of youth in foster care through the recently announced PREP and Abstinence Education funding. NAPCWA members were invited to hear Bryan Samuels, Commissioner of the Administration on Children, Youth, and Families, discuss these opportunities.

Two New Funding Announcements: State Personal Responsibility Education Program
and
Title V State Abstinence Education Grant Program

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) just released funding opportunity announcements for the State Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) and the Title V State Abstinence Education Grant Program. These separate programs represent approximately $105 million annually in formula funds for states.

A National Conference Call: Replicating Evidence-Based Teen Pregnancy Prevention Programs for Latino Youth

Among other things, Campaign staff discussed which programs have the best evidence of success among Latino youth, how to select a program that’s the right fit for a community, and what, in general, is known about strategies and messages on pregnancy prevention that resonate with Latino youth.

A National Conference Call: New Federal Funding for Teen Pregnancy Prevention Programs
January 7, 2010
On January 7, 2010, The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy held a national conference call about the new federal funding for evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs. On this call, National Campaign staff provided updates on what we know about the federal funding, and what organizations can begin doing at this point to prepare for the application process. There was also time for questions and answers submitted via e-mail.
