Effective Programs Database

A limited number of programs, interventions, and curriculum have been carefully evaluated and shown to delay sexual activity, improve contraceptive use among sexually active teens, and/or prevent teen pregnancy. The strongest evidence stems from program evaluations that are experimental in nature—that is, participants are randomly assigned to treatment and control groups—and focus on changes in the behavior of program participants. Less powerful but still important evidence also comes from quasi-experimental designs. Both are noted and listed in our effective programs database.

Some of the programs listed have been specifically tested among Latino teens. To find those programs please click the link below then check the box marked “Latino” under the heading Category Search. Please note, even though a program may not have been tested with a Latino audience, it may very well be effective with Latinos.
