Gloucester Baby Boom

In June 2008, reports surfaced that 17 girls from Gloucester High in Gloucester, MA had become pregnant - an increase from four teens the previous year. Time reported that some of the girls had actually entered a pact to become pregnant and raise their babies together.  Since the news broke, doubts have been raised about whether there actually was an agreement among some of the students to actively become pregnant.  Whether there was a pact or not, the number of pregnant girls at that particular high school more than tripled over the course of a year - alarming enough in an of itself to warrant attention and concern.
