Sex Has Consequences PSAs

Six Easy Ideas for Using These PSAs

The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy hopes that you will use these PSAs to help increase awareness and motivate others to get involved in teen pregnancy prevention, and spark conversations among teens.  Here are 6 ways you can use these PSAs in your community.

If you would like to customize these PSAs for your community, please contact mrosst@thenc.org for more information.

  • Want to broadcast these PSAs on television?
Getting a PSA shown on television is highly competitive, but can really raise awareness of the issue of teen pregnancy.  Contact your local television station and ask about the proper procedure for getting PSAs on the air.  Usually these requests are handled through the public affairs/community relations/public service departments. For more information, please read our Tips for Placing PSAs document.

  • Want to feature these PSAs on your web site?
Order the CD-Rom from the National Campaign's Online Store, download the files, and follow the instructions on the CD-Rom. Invite people to watch and share their comments. Encourage teens to email them to friends and to put them on their own home pages or online profiles.

  • Does your school have its own closed-circuit television station?
Order the DVD from the National Campaign's Online Store and air these PSAs during morning announcements, breaks between classes, lunch periods, and other periods where students might see them.

  • Looking for something to spice up your presentation?
These PSAs are just the ticket—just order the CD-Rom from the National Campaign's Online Store and use it to insert the PSAs into PowerPoint presentations or simply show them to your audience from our website.

  • Looking for a fun activity for teens?
Watch these PSAs with teens and ask them to critique each of the PSAs.  Which did they like best?  Which did they like least?  Which did they think was the most effective?  Why?  Use the PSAs as a starting point and ask students to write or design their own PSAs with the theme “Sex Has Consequences.”

  • Need a conversation starter?
These PSAs can be used to start important discussions about the realities of teen pregnancy and parenthood between parents and teens, at school, or in community health settings.
